Christopher Gregor, the father accused of killing his 6-year-old son in New Jersey, repeatedly put the boy on a treadmill while increasing the speed because he said he “too fat,” the prosecutor said at the start of the dramatic trial.
At the beginning of 2021 Gregor took his son Corey Micciolo to the gym in his room and made him run on the treadmill, which was caught by inspection pictures. Caution is advised when viewing them. The boy fell several times as his father continued to pick him up and put him back on the treadmill, hitting his head in the process.
The child died two weeks later as a result of blunt force trauma wounds to the heart and to the hate, said a forensic pathologist called by Ocean County prosecutors, reportedly ABC News.
“After hearing and seeing all the evidence in this case, you will be convinced that this defendant is guilty of abuse and murderbecause healthy six-year-olds don’t just die during a workday,” Ocean County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jamie Schron Roth told the jury.
The the child’s mother, Breanna Micciolo, took him to the hospital after noticing bruises on his body in April 2021, according to the prosecutor. The boy reportedly died while in his father’s custody the next day.
Gregor’s lawyer, Mario Galluci, urged jurors to ignore the father’s actions at the gym when considering whether he killed his son. “When you see that video, you will be shocked. You will feel mortified. But I’m telling you right now that the evidence you see had nothing to do with that plow.”
The defense attorney pointed to the time Corey spent with his mother between the incident at the gym and his trip to the doctor’s office, suggesting that the bruises on his body were also the result of soccer activities with him that “boys are boys”. The trial will begin next week.
Gregor a a former high school football star and youth mentor who met his son for the first time just a year before he discovered that he had abused him to death. According to the mother, there were worrying warning signs from the first time they met in 2019, when Corey was only 5 years old, she noted. New York Post.

The day before her son died, Micciolo said a judge denied her request for full custody.
