A morning in which many faithful of Salerno and of the province – in particular of Eboli – will be called together inside the Cathedral of Salerno to celebrate one of the most awaited moments of Don’s life Alfonso Raimo: at 10.30, in fact, the Eucharistic celebration will be held in the Cathedral with the rite of Episcopal Ordination for Don Raimo who, only a few days ago, was nominated by Pope francesco auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, with assignment of the titular see of Termini Imerese. And he will be the leader of the Salerno church, the archbishop Andrea Bellandi, to officiate the Eucharistic celebration for the current vicar general.

In fact, it has been more than 25 years since the nomination of a bishop from the Salerno clergy arrived: on 23 May 1998, in fact, it was Monsignor Michele De Rosa, born in Acerno, to be appointed bishop of Cerreto Sannita-Telese-Sant’Agata dei Goti. Before him, Monsignor Gioacchino Illiano e monsignor Gerardo Pierro respectively, one was appointed bishop of the Diocese of Nocera-Sarno and the other Bishop of the Diocese of Tursi-Lagonegro.
