The singer Tove Naess is dead.
On Monday, she died of cancer aged only 64.
– I sat and held her hand and kept my hand on her cheek for the last three quarters, says partner Fredrik Lindkvist to Aftonbladet.
On Monday, the singer left Tove Naess died of cancer at the age of 64.
She released several solo records and, among other things, drove behind Marie Fredriksson and Ulf Lundell and Dan Hylander and Sorry Bäckman together with his friend Anne-Lie Rydé.
Tove Naess was with her partner Fredrik Lindkvist for 19 years and he sat by his love’s side until the end.
– It was the cancer that took Tove and she died on Monday evening just after eleven. But everything was still great and I sat holding her hand and kept my hand on her cheek for the last three quarters. We also got to be at home just as Tove wanted, and not in hospital, he says and continues:
– I walk around as if in a vacuum now and everything feels very strange. We have been struggling with this for a total of two years. Tove had a big operation in the middle days at Karolinska where everything was removed and then there was chemotherapy and we both had good hope in February and March and felt that it could probably work out – again. Because it was the second operation she had. Tove had cancer in her abdomen and it was a big and nasty cancer.

Py Bäckman remembers his friend
Fredrik Lindkvist looks back on their years together with joy.
– We got 19 years and those were very nice years. I am grateful for them. On March 26th we celebrated our anniversary and then we said we’d go on for 19 more years, but we’d just beat this hell first. It feels so heavy now.
Py Bäckman toured with Tove Naess when she was driving behind Raj Montana band.
– I knew she was ill, she has been for a long time. But I had almost repressed it and thought it might be fixable. I didn’t think she was this bad, says Py Bäckman and continues:
– When I had an exhibition at Djurönäset, she came there and I recognized her, but at first I didn’t understand who it was. Tove looked a bit sloppy, but thank god for that. Then she said that the situation was not so good and that she had cancer.
– Tove was always so bubbly happy and laughed a lot and enjoyed her job. She was great at singing parts but was also good as a solo singer. She had a great voice.

Py Bäckman also describes with warmth that Tove Naess had the look for her.
– Tove was also so sweet and all the boys fell for her. She really was a guy magnet, but above all she was a very good singer.
Tove Naess sang in the early 1980s with the band Dave and the Mistakes and went on tour in England as a member of Elvis Costello.
In 1985 she toured Sweden and sang with Ulf Lundell. She has also released several solo records and worked a lot as a choir singer.
In 1991, she participated in the Melodifestivalen with the contribution “Låt mig se ett under” which finished in fifth place.
