Scorer on Thursday against Tottenham (2-0) in the Premier League, the striker Senegalese from ChelseaNicolas Jackson, on his main fault this season.
Hired for 37 million euros last summer by the label of the great hope of Senegalese football, Nicolas Jackson is struggling to confirm the promises made there. The fault lies in the continued inefficiency on the attacking front. It’s simple, in 40 appearances for more than 3,000 minutes of playing time, the former Villarreal player has made “only” 14 tackles. And yet, it’s not for lack of creative opportunities. His countless failures in the FA Cup final on April 20 against him City of Manchester (1-0) are a good example of this.
Jackson admits it’s inappropriate…
In an interview for Sky Sportsthe 22-year-old centre-forward, who is yet to open his selection account after 12 caps, admitted he had his shortcomings. “I think I should have won more with the chances I missed. It’s good, but it’s not what I wanted when I arrived: to play in the Champions League next season (the Blues are 8th and out of the race for certification in LdC). Everything happens for a reason and we are trying to fight next year. Even if I scored 10 or 15 goals, the most important thing is that the team performs as well as possible and that the supporters are happy. Then come the goals”he said.
… and promises for the next season
Number 9 in the youngest team in the Premier League (average age 23.6 years), Nico Jackson, however, says he is optimistic for the next season. “I try to improve every day. The most important thing is to be available for the team, to help them and to play. I miss a lot of things, but I try to create more opportunities and achieve more goals. (…) This season has been dedicated to learning. We have experienced. Next season, for sure, it will be better. I will score more goals and make more assists. But I’m happy to be here with the manager helping me. We want to win as many titles as possible to put Chelsea where they deserve to be.”, he said positively. A hope shared by his trainer Mauricio Pochettino who told him recently renew his confidence.
