Soviet and Russian actor, TV presenter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR Leonid Kanevsky will celebrate his 85th birthday on May 2. A night broadcast of the NTV channel, where the program with Kanevsky “The investigation was carried out…” has been broadcasting for almost 25 years, will be dedicated to this event.
The premiere of a documentary film about the ageless actor “People’s Artist” will be held. This is a dialogue film, Kanevsky communicates not only with the film crew, but also with the audience.

Kanevsky was born in Kyiv, but at the age of 17 he moved to Moscow. In 1960 he graduated from BV Shchukin Theater School (Vera Lvova course). From 1961, she began acting on the stage of the Lenin Komsomol Theater (today Lenkom Mark Zakharov). The artist has done dozens of theater productions. From 1967 to 1991 – an actor at the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya (now the Theater on Bronnaya).
His first film took place in 1963 in the film “Forty Minutes Before Dawn” – Kanevsky got a cameo role. The artist’s Union fame was brought to him by his role as a smuggler in Leonid Gaidai’s comedy “The Diamond Arm” (1968), as well as the main role of Major Tomin in the television series detective- police “The Investigation is Conducted by Experts” (1971 – 1989). Also important in Kanevsky’s career was the role of the haberdasher Bonacieux in the film Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich “D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers” (1979).
He also starred in the films and TV series “There, on Unknown Paths…” (1982), “Goodbye Mary Poppins” (1983), “The Victims Have No Claims” (1986), “Death in Cinema” (1990). ), “Jewish Vendetta” (1995), “The investigation is being carried out by Experts. Ten years later” (2002), “Photographer” (2008), “Semin” (2009), “What men are talking about. Continuation” (2018) and many others – in total more than 70 film works. In 2022, he played the main role in the comedy Olivier and the Robots.
Since 2006, Kanevsky has been a permanent presenter of the series of documentaries on NTV “The Investigation Conducted…”, where he talks about high-profile crimes of the past years.
He received the honorary badge “For Support to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia” (2002), and was also awarded the Order of Friendship (2010).
