New Cadillac Optiq Electric Crossover Revealed at Beijing Auto Show – Coming to US Market Soon

The Optiq model is intended for the Chinese market, but Cadillac plans to sell it in the US later.

At the Beijing Auto Show, American automaker Cadillac has revealed the first Optiq electric crossover, revealing technical information and future plans for the model.

Optiq was developed with an emphasis on the Chinese market and uses the common platform with the Lyriq positioned slightly higher. The car will be offered in two variants. The drive-wheel-drive Optiq will be equipped with a single motor that develops 245 hp, able to sprint to 100 km / h in seven seconds, reach a maximum speed of 180 km / h and, thanks to the battery 68.4 kWh , travel up to 536 km on a single charge in CLTC cycle. Two four-wheel motors will have 287 HP, and the slightly larger 79.7 kWh battery will provide a range of up to 600 km. This version reaches 100 km/h in 6 seconds, but it takes 33 minutes to charge the battery from 20 to 80 percent.

Optiq’s main market will be in China and it is designed especially for younger customers. For this purpose, a design with a minimum number of chrome parts, a stylish black roof and a 33-inch screen in the cabin was created. The package also includes ventilated seats, interior lighting from 126 options, wireless charging for smartphones.

Cadillac Optiq is already available for order in China. Prices start at 240,000 yuan (31,000 euros). In addition to China, Optiq is also planned to be sold in the United States.
