Elderly scam call center discovered

At home they had achieved a sort of call center to defraud the elderly through phone calls in which they posed as fake lawyers and policemen. Three people were arrested in Napoli, in Vico Parrettari, near Piazza Mercato. The Carabinieri of the Borgoloreto station discovered what was happening in the apartment on the fourth floor of the building, and in order to have the door opened by the scammers they pretended to be neighbors annoyed by the smell of marijuana. When the door was opened the raid began, with the arrest of three people and the discovery of the call center dedicated to scams targeting the elderly.

A scam attempt was underway: the three were on the phone with a 72-year-old from the province of Messina to whom, posing as lawyers or policemen, they talked about a false accident caused by their son and the need for money to exonerate him. Inside the apartment they were seized 10 cell phones, over 1,600 euros in cash, a small notebook with the details of the scams in progress, 4 intact SIM cards and a broken one, thrown from the window shortly after the raid, and a gram of marijuana. The three were placed under house arrest and will be charged with attempted fraud.
