Missing road worker found after Baltimore bridge collapse, bodies of five of six missing people now recovered

More than a month after the bridge collapsed in the American city of Baltimore, the remains of a missing road worker have been found again. As a result, the bodies of five of the six missing people have now been found.

The victim found yesterday is 49-year-old Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez. His body was found in a car that had fallen into the water when the bridge collapsed.

At the end of March, the carrier Dali entered a pier of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, northeast of Washington. The bridge immediately collapsed and six road workers ended up in the water, all immigrants from Latin America.

The Dali is still among the remains of the bridge, but the ship is expected to be towed away in the coming week to make the port of Baltimore more accessible. The authorities expect the container ship to be removed by May 10.

This would also allow larger cargo ships to access the port of Baltimore again. The resumption of shipping is very important for the region, because after the disaster many carriers have moved to other ports.

At the end of April, 3,300 tons of debris had been removed from the Patapsco River. According to the authorities, it is not possible to say how long it will take to clear all the debris.

There are several runs to investigate to the cause of the tragedy. The American police service FBI, investigative service NTSB and local authorities, among others, have launched an investigation. The city hopes to be able to recover the financial damages from those responsible.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the insurer of the collapsed bridge plans to pay $350 million to the state of Maryland. The payment is expected to be approved within a few weeks.
