/ world today news/ A few days ago, it was two years since the European Parliament elections. On May 26, 2019, it became clear that the BSP is bringing in four MEPs. A little later, on June 8, “Positano” 20 reported that the chairman of the group of Bulgarian Eurosocialists will be the young left-wing hopeful Petar Vitanov, who developed themes during the election campaign, that the centenarian is determined to implement a policy with which to defend our national interests, to fight for the rights of Bulgarian citizens and to look for mechanisms to impose real left-wing and social policies in the European Parliament.
In one of his first interviews with BNT on August 4, 2019, already as head of the group of Eurosocialists, Vitanov explained that for citizens in the EU, “the European Parliament is something distant and abstract, connected with a huge bureaucracy and bureaucracy.” Then he stated that the European administrative apparatus, which takes nearly 8% of the EU budget, should be reduced. Of course, this did not happen and the reason is not specifically in Vitanov, but two years later we do not hear that he is against the fact that these 8% of Europeans are absorbed by the bloated bureaucracy, to which he is also harmed to some extent.
Vitanov simply condescended to the subject.
Again, Petar Vitanov explained that he is a member of two committees in the European Parliament – the transport committee and the civil liberties committee. There will hardly be any news from his work in the first committee, since on July 9 of this year The EP finally adopted the “Mobility” package, which is disadvantageous for Bulgarian carriers. The almost complete absence of news from his participation in the second – Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Internal Affairs is puzzling. In recent years, there have been flagrant violations of our rights, trampling of human dignity, and the trampling of civil liberties. Unfortunately, we did not witness Vitanov’s categorical defense of the rights of Bulgarian citizens, but rather the MEP’s hesitant assertion of them in various television appearances.
Vitanov simply condescended on this topic as well.
Again in that broadcast on BNT, the chairman of the group of Bulgarian Socialist MEPs stated that if he is alone, the MEP will hardly be able to push policies, “but he can speak, influence and persuade”. And he was absolutely right about that. But the big question is whether speaking will not prove pointless if it is irretrievably late. Petar Vitanov raised the extremely important topic that GERB acted irresponsibly by not submitting the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan to the European Commission by the end of April, when it was the indicative deadline. Yes, he spoke, but he did so four days before the latch clicked. And we return to the question of the delay in speaking – why didn’t Vitanov take a strong position on the case months before? Why did you not pay attention to the Bulgarian citizens with a categorical articulation?

One can go into serious depth about the serious discrepancy between the commitments made and the policies implemented by the chairman of the Bulgarian left MEPs, Petar Vitanov. There is not much time left until the end of his mandate, in which he must gather socialist courage and start keeping his promises to the voters with bright and indisputable deeds.
Let us not forget that he began his leftist narrative with the slogan “Justice Now”. Unfortunately, the realization of the defense of this justice has not yet happened with the chairman of the Bulgarian Eurosocialists, Petar Vitanov.
