King Charles III returned to public duties. The King and Queen visited the UCH Macmillan Cancer Center yesterday. This is Charles III’s first after a course of treatment. In February, the king was diagnosed with cancer. During the treatment, he was recommended to postpone royal public duties. The king continued to deal with state affairs and official documents.
The king and queen met with the specialists of the cancer center. Doctors talked about innovative technologies. In particular, about the use of computer tomography for early detection of cancer. The King and Queen later spent time with cancer patients and their families.
In 1997, Prince of Wales Charles became a patron of Macmillan Cancer Support. This charity provides a wide range of support to people with cancer and promotes better cancer treatment.
Now Charles III has also become the patron of Cancer Research UK, an organization that researches cancer. Previously, this position was held by Queen Elizabeth II. The King met Cancer Research UK’s chief clinician, Professor Charlie Swanton, who led the TRACERx project. The project investigates lung cancer. It brought together 250 researchers and clinicians in 19 centers across the UK.
