CONTRAST
Vartzopoulos, as many conservatives do, confuses what is happening with what is supposed to be happening in order to arrive at a “realistic” compromise with reality. In one sense, the only complete answer to this logic is given by the saying: “Everything that exists is worth destroying!”
Trying to give a scientific interpretation of the phenomenon of femicides, the psychiatrist appeared in an interview to justify the phenomenon instead of interpreting it. More likely indeed, his outmoded beliefs (biology), fabricating extenuating circumstances for heinous crimes.
The racial division of labor he referred to is, however, too old a story to justify behaviors based on a lawless “state of nature.” Modern humans also have a remnant of a tail (coccyx), as a remnant of the period when we were quadrupeds, without this meaning anything.
Moreover, if what he implies were true, they would constitute a de facto annulment of the dignity of man as it emerges from his human nature, as an autonomous and conscious being, i.e. responsible for his actions and not a slave of his instincts.
INTENTION
For Mr. Vartzopoulos, many were quick to advocate that we should be lenient with a linguistic blunder of his, insisting on the lack of bad intent on the part of the Minister. Something wrong, we are told, that was said and wrongly not corrected in a clearer way.
But those who stand on the alleged lack of bad intention on the part of the speaker, it is implied, would be unfounded if they could discern deception and coercion in the intention of the doer. But this is precisely the parallel case of the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, who was arrested for the third time in 40 days for lying publicly about matters of his competence.
What he says and what he does do not escape him at all. If Vartzopoulos, in Dostoyevsky’s terms, corresponds to the freehand Arkady Ivanovich Svidrigailov, with his contrast he only comes to illuminate the protagonist Raskolnikov even more.
THREE LIES ADONIDES
I remember his refutation by his daughter, a self-diagnosed cancer patient in Heraklion, when the minister mentioned that the patient did not come to the appointment. He hid the “detail” that the exhausted patient himself should have discovered and brought the hard-to-find drug (costing 11 euros) to the appointment in question, that’s why. And the minister was aware of this, fully and personally, as reported by the relatives of the deceased. In other words, he was consciously lying…
He also lied a week later on ERT when he said that the Agios Nikolaos Hospital was not on duty when the fatal injury with the naval flare occurred. In reality, the prefectural hospital was on duty but without a surgeon and anesthesiologist, that is, it was on duty with the status of a Health Center. As evidenced by his personal contacts with Lasithi two days earlier in order not to disclose the case, the minister had a complete picture and lied knowingly…
Similarly, it was repeatedly mentioned in public during the first days of Kallianos’ death, in a protocol which then prohibited the admission of non-intubated patients to the unit. It was refuted by a number of scientists but also by the common experience of dozens of incidents that testify to the contrary. Characteristically, Mr. Kapravelos said that the things mentioned by the Minister are lies! Since he had been busy as he says (50 phones), it is impossible that he has been the victim of a misunderstanding. He is therefore called upon to immediately publish the protocol of the Ministry of Health, the one that gives such orders to the hospitals and which “ties his hands”…
INSULT
Is your minister, honorable Mr. Mitsotakis, a Pinocchio in a row and a row? And you use his audacity even against people you personally sympathized with? So much hypocrisy?
