Queen Máxima’s Hat Collection: A Detailed Analysis

At the beginning of this week a blog appeared online which contained: wine al Máxima were visible. Several visitors wondered why there were so many double hats. In this blog I will discuss the examples mentioned.

Let’s start with 69, 77 and 80, mentioned by Lente-tinie. Hat number 77 was designed by Fabienne Delvigne for the wedding of Albert & Charlène of Monaco. The substance is parabuntal. Number 69 revealed itself seven years later at Prinsjes 2013. That day, Máxima wore a gold dress by Jan Taminiau. A straw colored hat would not have gone well with that. Number 80 was ordered for the state visit to France. The color of the hat matches the satin on the coat and Máxima’s pumps and gloves.

Hats with down brims
Shortly after her wedding, Máxima appeared on the red carpet with a hat with a tip down. The shade of the headpiece is old pink. A similar model followed nine years later, but in light grey. A cool color that goes well with shades of blue. As icing on the cake, a liver colored hat with a down brim also appeared. Máxima received this as a gift when she visited Urk.

I really don’t understand the added value of ad number 150.

The color is very close to red. If he just does not respond, he will be very worried. So I’m not surprised that Máxima has many red hats. To avoid high costs, Máxima now mostly makes her hats in her own studio. If she is on vacation or has an empty agenda, the maid can keep herself busy by making a new and perfect headpiece. Numbers 176 and 177 belong to Jolanda.

I also don’t understand the added value of 92. Maybe she was worried that the 92 hat crop (which she wore before 91) was bothering her?

I don’t understand the added value of another pink capeline either. Maybe the edge is damaged? Or did she remember exactly what she had?

Felt is a winter material, straw is a summer material. That explains why Máxima has two wide-brimmed green hats.

Hair accessories are often made by Máxima’s own fashion team. Apparently also numbers 212 and 213. It’s then a matter of ordering some springs and attaching them to a clamp. Anyway, Máxima never wore her clothes from Queen’s Day 2009 (Apeldoorn attack) in that combination again. Neither is Queen Beatrix’s beautiful red dress by Veronique van Groeningen. I suspect this is intentional.

When Máxima had hat 43, I stood with my nose on top of her and saw the hill moving up and down. It was far too wide and heavy for the light material. I suspect this is why we never saw him again. Hat 42 is also a different shade of red, which exactly matches the burgundy accent color of her dress.

Why Máxima bought 209 is a mystery to me. The ugliest hat in her collection. So I understand that 207 followed soon after, haha. Black is well represented in the retrospective because of all the memorials, May 4th, funerals, etc.
