/ world today news/ Georgi Gergov: 80 years after the beginning of the Great Patriotic War! We remember the heroes! We honor their memory! And while we preserve the memory, we defend humanity from fascism!

The Ambassador of Russia to our country Eleonora Mitrofanova and diplomats laid wreaths and flowers in front of the monument to the Soviet soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War at the central cemetery in Plovdiv. The honorary consul of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria Georgi Gergov, municipal councilors and dozens of citizens took part in the ceremony.

On today’s Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, we mark 80 years since that June 22, when the Great Patriotic War began for the Soviet Union. A war in which millions died defending their Motherland and the world from fascism. Georgi Gergov shared that 80 years after the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the world remembers the heroes! “We honor their memory! And while we keep the memory, we defend humanity from fascism!”

Metropolitan Nikolay held a memorial service in memory of the dead. “Let us always remember with gratitude those who gave their lives in the fight against fascism. We pray to God that this evil will never return to earth,” the bishop said in his speech.
