National Bank canceled registration of the participation of FC “ELAENS” LLC in payment systems.
According to the Payment Infrastructure Register, FC ELAENS LLC is an indirect member of the international payment systems Visa and MasterCard, operates under the brand (trademark) “Fondy” and has a license to provide financial payment services.
During February – April 2024, the National Bank received information from law enforcement agencies that the activities of FC ELAENS LLC contained risks of threats to the national security of Ukraine.
In order to verify and confirm the received data, the National Bank addressed a clarifying request to the state body of special purpose with law enforcement functions and received from it documented information that the activities of a participant in the international payment system contain risks of threats to the national security of Ukraine.
In connection with this, the National Bank canceled the registration of “FC “ELAENS” LLC as an indirect participant of international payment systems Visa and MasterCard.
Valeriya Vahorovska, the owner of the Fondy payment platform, strongly disagreed with the National Bank’s decision to revoke the license to participate in payment systems. She considers this decision unfair and unfounded. About this it is said in a statement available to the EP.
“We categorically disagree with the NBU’s decision, we consider it unfair and unfounded. We are asking the SBU to publish evidence that our company’s actions may be a threat to national security. We know for sure that there is no such evidence,” she said.
“Unfortunately, we have become the object of unprecedented pressure on business and our reputation,” stated the owner of Fondy. “And we have no other choice but to defend ourselves by all available legal means.”
