World Jazz Day Celebrations at ESM Fernández Leal Campus – April 30, Free Admission

  • With the participation of 30 students, four presentations will be held at the Fernández Leal campus. Free admission

World Jazz Day is celebrated every April 30 – announced by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, in 2011 – with the aim of raising awareness among the general public about the virtues of jazz music as an educational tool and as an engine for peace, unity, communication and strengthening cooperation between people.

In this context, the Higher Music School (ESM), the National Institute of Arts and Literature (Inbal) and the Deputy Director General of Art Education and Research (Skeia), join the commemoration with special program, in which about 30 students participated.

The activities, which will take place on April 30, will start from the steps of the Fernández Leal campus, located in Coyoacán, at 12:00 pm with the concert Jazz Percussion Ensemble, under the guidance of teacher Jorge Fernández; Later, at 1:30 p.m., teacher Ingrid Beaujean and her students will continue with the Laboratory assembly 3604.

At 3:00 pm the teacher Hanna Hiipakka appears with students to offer the concert Miscellaneous assemblyand to conclude the celebration, at 4:00 pm, the teacher Enrique Valadez will give his explanation with the Sand Jazz Combo.

“You can enjoy different styles and instruments, in the first number you will hear pieces ranging from 1920 to improvised work; in the second, bossa-nova and instrumental with violin; in the third one, singers, and in the fourth number there will be a lot of brass,” said Jorge Fernández.
