Carlos Alcaraz maintains his love affair with the clay of the Mutua Madrid Open. The Murcian captured the 13th consecutive victory of the Caja Mágica tournament. Not even Rafa Nadal or Novak Djokovic have achieved such a record. This Sunday Thiago Seyboth Wild appeared in his path, who had just expelled Musetti from the competition. But Carlitos is not one to joke.
The first break of service in the first round was delayed. The Brazilian carried out his turns of service. Until, in the seventh game, Carlos Alcaraz took advantage of the opportunity. He immediately confirmed the break. And a double fault by Seyboth Wild put an end to the opening set, ruled with authority by the El Palmar player.
Alcaraz pressed the accelerator in the second chapter. After being reliable with his serve, he broke again to go 2-0 ahead. Without drops in tension, firm in his game, powerful in attack and attentive to the rest, the Murcian headed towards victory, which became irrevocable with another break (4-0).
Seyboth Wild avoided the humiliation of the donut. He even dared to make a break. But he was forced to capitulate in the next game.
Carlos Alcaraz will face Jan-Lennard Struff on Tuesday, in a repeat of last year’s final.
This Monday it is Rafa Nadal’s turn, who will face the Argentine Pedro Cachín.
