A woman in the Netherlands has opened up about her decision to end her life by lethal injection or euthanasia. He wanted to do this on his birthday.
Jolanda Fun, a 33 year old woman diagnosed with an eating disorder, chronic depression, autism, and mild learning difficulties. He has tried many treatments to survive.
“Dark, overstimulated, chaos in my head, loneliness,” he said, quoted on the People’s page.
“Most of the time I feel really bad. Sad, sad, gloomy. People don’t see it, because that’s the mask I wear and that’s what you learn in life. “
Fun surrounded by family, some friends, and a dog. However, he felt that his life was always filled with pain. This is what made him choose euthanasia.
In his interview, Fun said that his case was initially rejected by the Expertisecentrum Euthanasie, an organization that usually handles complex cases. However, he found a psychologist who was willing to do it and two other doctors who agreed with his decision.
“The rules are very strict. You don’t just get euthanasia, there’s a whole journey. But it’s death in a dignified way, without pain, done by a doctor. Your loved one can be there ,” explained Fun.
“And nobody found you in such a terrible state – or you wouldn’t have a bad fate and even worse than before (after you tried to kill yourself),” he continued.
Fun finally chose to perform euthanasia on his 34th birthday on 25 April 2024. He also prepared his own funeral invitation.
