Bundesliga: Leverkusen remains undefeated. Bayern and Dortmund suffer with injuries

BERLIN —

BERLIN (AP) — Bayer Leverkusen once again escaped the clutches of defeat with another goal in stoppage time and remains undefeated on the season after drawing 2-2 with Stuttgart on Saturday.

Robert Andrich scored in the sixth minute of added time as Xabi Alonso’s team extended their unbeaten record in all competitions to 46 games.

It was the second game in a row in which Leverkusen, the new Bundesliga champion, scored a goal after 90 minutes of regular time to remain undefeated, a record in German football. Josip Stanišić scored in the seventh minute of added time last weekend to rescue a 1-1 draw away to Borussia Dortmund.

Stuttgart, the team unexpectedly third in the table, seemed poised to strike a blow by taking a 2-0 lead.

Chris Führich scored in the 47th minute by capitalizing on a rebound to open the scoring. Nine minutes later, Deniz Undav scored the second after beating Andrich for the ball.

But Amine Adli scored in the 61st with a shot close to the right post and Andrich declared the tie with a shot in the middle of a crowded area.

“It’s crazy. I have no words to describe it,” said Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký.

BAYERN AND DORTMUND SUFFER WITH INJURIES

Harry Kane scored a double to reach 35 goals in the Bundesliga and Bayern Munich warmed up to face Real Madrid with a 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The victory ensured Bayern’s qualification for the next edition of the Champions League, but it took a toll on them ahead of their commitment in the semi-finals of the current tournament. Midfielder Konrad Laimer and defender Matthijs de Ligt were injured.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel had his mind set on Madrid’s visit on Tuesday, and appealed to an alternative team to the one that thrashed Unión Berlin last week. He dispensed with attackers Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané, both between cottons in order to be able to compete in the first leg against the Spanish giant.

Kane opened the scoring in the ninth minute after a great play by Laimer and then restored Bayern’s lead with a penalty in the 61st.

It was the England captain’s 42nd goal in all competitions for Bayern this season, his first for the German club after joining from Tottenham. This is a personal record for the forward. He also reached 400 in his career with club and national team.

Borussia Dortmund, which will host Paris Saint-Germain in the other semifinal on Wednesday, suffered an ugly 4-1 defeat at Leipzig, where veteran defender Mats Hummels was injured.

Dortmund intended to take over fourth place, in the hands of Leipzig, but was five points behind its rival, which currently has the last place to play in the next Champions League. There are three days left in the season.

Dortmund would only have to hope that fifth place would be enough.

Also on Saturday, Wolfsburg came back to beat Freiburg 2-1 and Werder Bremen won 3-0 away against Augsburg.
