FESAT drives children’s categories of Taekwondo – Daily The Page – 2024-04-29 11:21:23

The Salvadoran Taekwondo Federation (FESAT) held the I Kyorugui National Children’s Championship this Sunday at the ITCA auditorium facilities, where approximately 400 athletes from 31 schools from all over the country participated.

Before the start of the sports day, a minute of silence was held in memory of Sheila Jongmy Oh Marroquín, national taekwondo team and gold medalist at the 2018 Codicader Games, who died in March.

The sports event hosted athletes between the ages of 3 and 11 with belts ranging from white belts to black belts, and divided into categories 3-4; 5-6; 7-8; 9-10 and 10-11.

“We are betting on these events, we have divided them to empower each little child. We have separated the 12-13 year old category because from there we are looking at the competitive part,” said Tomas Gómez, manager of Fesat, who added that they are in search of a generational replacement.

The competition had a large audience that experienced the day in an exciting way. Alexis Salgado traveled with his family and his two taekwondist sons who belong to Pumas Taekwondo of San Miguel, and highlighted the importance of this type of events, as well as the support of parents.

“We are beginning to see progress by leaps and bounds, the fruits of effort and sacrifice. I am a proud father. These events make children love this sport more, which leaves many lessons and values; As parents, we must accompany them every step they take,” said Salgado.
