Jon Bon Jovi on Livin’ on a Prayer: ‘Not special’

Livin’ on a Prayer is undeniably one of the biggest hits of the American rock band Bon Jovi, but lead singer Jon Bon Jovi initially did not think the song was that special. The 62-year-old artist told People magazine.

“It wasn’t that I didn’t want to record the song, but I wasn’t that impressed the day we wrote it,” Bon Jovi says of the 1986 song. “They were simple melodies. But when it came to life in the studio, that’s when the song became what it is today.”

So Bon Jovi was initially wrong, he admits. “It is of course now one of our best-known songs.”
