Shotcut Version 24.04 Released: New Features and Improvements Unveiled

Shotcut is an open source and cross-platform video editing program for Windows, Linux and macOS. It uses FFmpeg and therefore has support for the most common audio and video formats. The files are not imported, but edited in their original format. It can handle different paths and a variety of formats and configurations can be used within a project. Shotcut version 24.04 features the following changes and improvements:

Improvements

  • Added Ambisonic Encoder audio filter.
  • Added View > Scope > Noise Vector.
  • Added Scene > Scope > Surround Sound.
  • Added Settings > Time Format to affect where the schedule is displayed or edited.
  • Added a signal to the video control for the Ambisonic Decoder audio filter.
  • Added Edit > Delete and Redo support for adding, removing and changing Keyframes (work in progress) for the following filters:
    • Separation in audio
    • Fade Out Audio
    • Advantage / Size
    • Bright
    • Color level
    • Comparison
    • Separation in video
    • Video Fade Out
    • Text: Rich
    • Size, location & distribution
    • White Balance
  • Added application copy filters to timeline > menu > Edit and context menu that works with multiple selected clips.
  • MLT has been updated to version 7.24.0.

Corrections

  • Fixed crash if the Keyframes panel is in a tab group with Filters.
  • Fixed Elastic Scale video filter can move with preview scaling.
  • Dropping an incompatible video file may not trigger conversion.
  • Color fixed in Properties > Conversion > Best if BT.709 input video is signal free.
  • Some settings for Settings > Audio Channels > 4 (quad).
  • Can’t make fixed changes in filters after moving the clip on the timeline.
  • Fixed Zoom Timeline to sometimes respond incorrectly.
  • Fixed batch analysis for Stabilize video filter exported with project folder
