Denpasar City Government Takes Action to Combat Dengue Fever Outbreak – Smoke Operation Implemented to Eradicate Mosquito Nests

Denpasar,

The Denpasar City Government is diligent in making various efforts to eliminate Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) (PSN) mosquito nests. Through the Denpasar City Health Service, smoke was produced on Sunday (28/4) located on Jalan Wirasatya, Sidakarya.

This measure was implemented due to the increase in dengue fever cases that occurred in Denpasar City in April 2024, reaching 248 cases of dengue fever, which was an increase compared to the previous month, and that’s 122 cases.

This time, the implementation of the smoke was reviewed by the Regional Secretary of Denpasar City, Ida Bagus Alit Wiradana, together with the Head of Health, AA Ayu Agung Candrawati, and the Head of Sidakarya Village, I Wayan Madrayasa.

The Regional Secretary of Denpasar City, Ida Bagus Alit Wiradana, on the sidelines of the operation, revealed that there was an increase in dengue fever cases, the Denpasar City Government was ready to support and assist the dengue operation in eradicating and from dengue mosquitoes. This step will definitely require the support of the entire community to implement PSN independently.

“We as the Denpasar City Government are ready to support and assist in smoke operations, and we hope to cooperate with the entire community in carrying out PSN independently in their own homes, so that for the implementation to run more efficiently,” he said.

The Head of Health, Ayu Candrawati, revealed that anticipatory measures to prevent dengue mosquitoes include the implementation of PSN, as well as mass fogging with ULV (Ultra Low Volume) machines every year.

The increase in dengue fever cases in Denpasar cannot be separated from the recent change in the rainy season cycle. Therefore anticipatory measures by implementing heavy smoke and fog could be a little more dangerous. This is related to the mist of smoke that may interfere with breathing compared to mist using a ULV device.

“Recently, the rainy season cycle has changed, so anticipatory measures with heavy fog and mist are a bit more dangerous than fogging with a ULV device. However, due to the increasing number of cases, it is hoped that it will be possible to smoke at the same time in the Denpasar City area,” he explained.

At the same time, one of the local banjar residents, Muhammad Mansur, thanked the Denpasar City Government for facilitating the fog operation in our area. He hopes that this measure will reduce cases of dengue fever outbreaks among local residents.

“As a resident, I would like to express my gratitude for the attention and concern of the Denpasar City Government, the Health Service, and Sidakarya Village officials in their efforts to prevent and eradicate dengue fever through fogging and prevention mosquito larvae, until it is not. more residents are affected by dengue fever,” he said.
