A man tried to kill two men in Lappeenranta in Sammonlahti on Saturday evening, the police suspect.

The suspected murder attempts took place in two different apartments, the director of the investigation, the crime commissioner Pasi Sirviö tells Iltalehte.

A man suspected of attempted murder has been caught and arrested.

One of the victims was not seriously injured. The other is hospitalized. The perpetrator knows at least one of the victims, Sirviö says. It is not certain if the suspect knew one of the affected people.

Sirviö does not comment on the manner in which the suspected crimes were committed.

– We have people we haven’t heard from, I’m not going to pretend to open any more, says Sirviö.

The police will inform about the case next time at the earliest on Tuesday, when the suspect must be presented for arrest at the latest, says Sirviö.

The police operation attracted attention in Sammonlahti on Saturday evening. The photo seen by Iltalehti shows several police cars and ambulances.

Iltalehti has seen a WhatsApp conversation allegedly related to the case, which tells about traces of blood in the stairwell.
