The Peruvian Air Force confirmed, through a statement, the death of Major FAP Ramiro Alfredo Rondón Medina, pilot of the Mirage 2000 fighter plane that fell on the morning of Thursday, April 11 in La Joya, Arequipa.
«Today, April 12, at approximately 11:05 am, the crews of the aircraft and ground patrols that make up the Search and Rescue System of the Peruvian Air Force, located the impact zone of the Mirage 2000P aircraft, in the Western slope of Nevado Pichu Pichu (Arequipa), where they found the mortal remains of the pilot, Major FAP Ramiro Alfredo Rondón Medina,” the document states.
Likewise, the FAP expressed its condolences to the family of the fallen officer and his comrades in arms in these moments of pain and distress for the entire institution.
As recalled, the FAP confirmed the fall of the Mirage 2000 combat ship that left this Thursday, April 11, from the La Joya Air Base in Arequipa.
At approximately 10:31 am, the control tower of the military base lost communication with the ship and the Search, Rescue and Rescue team was immediately activated using aerial means and ground patrol.
The high command of the FAP has ordered investigations into the case in order to determine the causes of the accident.
