Peruvian sport continues with its process of expansion, development and strengthening with a view to consolidating high-performance exponents at the peak of international competitiveness, having as a starting point their correct preparation in adequate and approved venues, which remained as a legacy of the successful organization that meant Lima 2019.
In these venues, in charge of the Special Legacy Project, the spirit of competition remains and, above all, national talents have found their best version to represent the country in international competitions. Equipment, gyms, specialized environments and other benefits have served to polish Peruvian talent.
This is how many Peruvian exponents have increased their opportunities in the fight to win medals and – in some cases – have turned their disciplines into a world power.
Here are some success stories:
Angelo Caro: Olympian and considered one of the best skaters in America. He won the silver medal in Santiago 2023. He trains at the Legado Costa Verde headquarters.
Shoely Mego: Considered at the time as the best weightlifter in the world in her category. She trains at Sports Center 2 in Videna.
Niurka Callupe: At the age of 19, she became the first Peruvian world boccia champion. She in Santiago 2023. She won bronze in Santiago 2023 and is classified for Paris 2024. She trains at the Legado Sports Center 1.
Pilar Jáuregui: Chosen as the best of 2023 by the Pan American Badminton Confederation, she is a two-time Parapan American champion and chosen as the best in the world in her category. She trains at Legado Sports Center 2.
Angelica Espinoza: Two-time Parapan American champion and considered one of the best Para taekwondo players in the world. She is qualified for Paris 2024 and will seek another gold medal at the Paralympic Games.
Rodrigo Santillan: Since Lima 2019, the Para swimmer has not stopped competing in world championships and international tournaments, consolidating himself among the top 8 in the world in Tokyo 2020. He won three medals in Santiago 2023.

Arnold Montañez: Considered the best BMX freestyle in the country. His participation in international tournaments has raised the internal level.
Hockey: The national team has raised its level and qualified, on its own merit, for the last Pan American Games Santiago 2023.
Table tennis: Exponents such as ‘Nano’ Fernández, Rodrigo Hidalgo, Felipe Duffó and Isabel Duffó have raised the level of this sport, with participation in the Pan American Games and international tournaments organized in Lima. The federation has been organizing tournaments of global importance, from the Legado headquarters.
Bowling: Its successful massification has motivated its exponents to participate in the Pan American Games and in 2024 the first Youth World Cup was organized from the Bowling Center, built for Lima 2019.
Softball: The discipline spread from the softball stadium at the Legado Villa María del Triunfo headquarters. It was one of the few team sports to qualify for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
Artistic swimming: Led by Olympian Maura Xavier, the national team has won medals in Pan American championships, by category, and is working to consolidate itself on the South American podium.
