INE orders to remove part of AMLO’s morning conference on April 22

Mexico City. The Complaints and Complaints Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) ordered part of the morning of April 22 to be lowered because President Andrés Manuel López Obrador flattered Claudia Sheinbaum.

In the approved agreement, the president was reiterated to refrain from making statements, comments or statements on electoral issues in any format or modality, whether positively or negatively, taking care that his actions are adjusted to the constitutional principles of impartiality and neutrality.

The opposition also requested the withdrawal of the morning of April 18, but this measure was not granted because the statements were about the 2006 election.

Nor did he accept the repeated request to suspend these conferences by the Chief Executive, held regularly in the National Palace, because to determine the withdrawal, modification or elimination it is necessary to analyze the particularities of each one, as resolved by the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Court. of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) in the sentences SUP-REP-139/2019 and accumulated, and SUP-RAP-197/2024.

On this occasion, the political parties National Action (PAN) and the Democratic Revolution (PRD) filed complaints against the President of the Republic for the alleged violation of the principles of neutrality, impartiality and equity in the contest, within the framework of the Federal Electoral Process 2024.

In the case of the measure that was appropriate, the councilors endorsed the study of the Technical Litigation Unit according to which the President’s statements may violate the principles of neutrality, impartiality and equity of the ongoing electoral process.

Due to the above, the President was ordered to delete or modify the files of the morning conference of April 22 hosted on electronic platforms under his control and the Legal Department, the General Coordination of Social Communication, the Spokesperson of the Government of the Republic and the Center of Production of Informative and Special Programs (CEPROPIE), collaborate in compliance with precautionary measures.

Regarding the misuse of resources, he reasoned that it will be an issue that the TEPJF Regional Specialized Chamber will analyze in depth.

During the same session, the Commission resolved 15 Ordinary Sanctioning Procedures (POS) related to the alleged existence of various violations in electoral matters, among which are the possible violation of the right to freedom of affiliation of various people; omission and refusal to provide information to the Technical Supervision Unit of the Institute, as well as the omission to incorporate the ID-INE in a spectacular announcement, which will be known in an upcoming session of the General Council.
