In March this year, Marcus Högberg, 29, signed a new contract with Linköping.

Now the star goalkeeper is leaving the club in any case.

The 29-year-old is ready for NHL games.

He was one of the SHL’s top goaltenders last season and recently signed a new contract that runs through 2028.

But now it is clear that LHC will lose him for the coming season.

Högberg is ready for NHL games.

– It obviously feels good to get this chance again. I wasn’t quite prepared for something like this to appear, but am very happy and excited to test my wings on the extreme world elite again, says Högberg in a press release.

“Of course tough”

Sporting director Peter Jakobsson is happy with the 29-year-old, but now work begins to find a new goalkeeper.

– It is obviously a very tough message for us to receive in this situation. At the same time, it happens relatively early, which means that we can fairly immediately put in a new plan for the work and move on. Of course it will be a bigger job for us to pull, but it is our job to be prepared that something like this can happen when you have very talented hockey players around you, he says.
