Mexico City. The Pumas shield is a reflection of success and oblivion. The emblematic logo turns 50, but the celebrations are not bombastic. Although the image of a puma in the middle of a triangle has even had an international reach; its creator, Manuel Birdie Andrade does not enjoy the benefits of his work and for years has faced precarious health and economic conditions.
The club celebrated with a video and a statement telling the history and meaning of its emblem, while the artist is under the care of friends and neighbors due to medical complications.
It is impossible not to relate the blue and gold image of the feline created by Andrade in 1974 with the history of glory of Pumas, considered one of the four greats of soccer. The shield also recalls the colors of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, while transmitting strength with an elegant aesthetic.

Even a little more than 10 years ago, Andrade thought about filing a lawsuit, but shortly after he reached an agreement with Rodrigo Ares de Parga, who headed the Pumas Board of Trustees between 2016 and 2019.
When Ares de Parga was there, the team gave him help of 5 thousand pesos per game, but when the manager left, Andrade stopped receiving that money. Now, the club looked for him recently, but there was no agreement
