Israel Targets Islamic Group in Lebanon: Two Members Killed in Bombing

An armed group in Lebanon said on Friday that Israeli bombing in the Bekaa region killed two members of the group that fired rockets over the southern border into Israel.

The Israeli army said in a statement on Friday, “Israeli Air Force planes attacked and killed Musab Khalaf in the Midoun region of Lebanon.”

The army described him as a member of the Islamic Group in Lebanon and launched attacks on Israel.

The group announced in a statement that two of its field leaders, Musab Khalaf and one of his relatives, were killed in the bombing.

A security source in Lebanon confirmed that Khalaf was an officer in the Al-Fajr Forces, the armed wing of the Islamic Group. The group had fired rockets at Israel before.

This is the first time that Israel has confirmed that it is targeting a member of the Islamic Group in Lebanon, despite the fact that members of the group were killed in raids that targeted members of the movement Hamas in Lebanon.

Hamas attacked Israel in October, killing 1,200 people and taking 253 hostages, according to Israeli statistics. Israel responded by launching a military campaign in the Gaza Strip that killed more than 34,000 Palestinians.

At the same time, Hezbollah and Israel were exchanging fireacross the southern border of Lebanon. Security sources in Lebanon said an Israeli strike killed two Hezbollah fighters on Friday.

More than 250 Hezbollah members and more than 70 civilians have been killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon since October. In Israel, missiles fired from Lebanon killed around 12 security forces and 6 civilians.
