Cuco Morales, 72, is a dragon in the Chinese horoscope and according to his knowledge of Eastern philosophy this year will be beneficial for many and “for those who are a dragon, like him, there will be strong challenges, but also opportunities. That’s why you have to be wide awake,” says the plastic artist.
This may be one of the reasons why Cuco Morales inaugurates a new exhibition this week. Although he points out “mainly I want to celebrate the fact of being alive. I have many friends
that are gone,” he says. In the exhibition “Dragón” (Librería La Rebelde, Jr. Batalla De Junín 260, Barranco), Cuco Morales reinterprets the 12 animals of the Chinese horoscope with metal and stone sculptures. It all started as a game with his inner child while he experimented with new materials, but “the game won me over,” confesses Morales and assures that “it may have been years of work to find the technique of how to make these figures,” where the openwork goes down to the smallest detail.
The artist points out that “an important part of Chinese philosophy is the search for the center, the balance between yin and yang, focusing between good and bad to be better people in favor of good.”
common, therefore, regardless of whether or not one believes in horoscopes, this one in particular contains all that teaching, hence its importance.”
