IFK Värnamo veteran Simon Thern stepped off during the break against Malmö FF in round three of the Allsvenskan. Due to a thigh injury, according to Värnamo Nyheter. He then missed the meeting with Sirius and against AIK on Wednesday he was not in the squad either.
But for the weekend, the idea is that the 31-year-old will make a comeback. When Football Channel asks coach Anes Mravac when Thern is back, he answers:
– Hopefully now against Halmstad (on Sunday). I count on that. He has been training during the week.
Värnamo fell 2-0 away to AIK on Wednesday, but purely in terms of play, Mravac is happy about several parts.
– We started the match in a good way. We played our way through AIK’s pressure and had quite a lot of the ball without creating any major chances. Then AIK scored 1-0 and we continued on the same track. We came forward a few times where we felt dangerous and the feeling was that the match was alive. But when they scored 2-0 before half-time, it felt quite tough for us, says the coach and continues:
– In the second half we gave it a chance. We did a lot of things that are good but unfortunately we lacked that last little bit to create the big goalscoring chances and get a goal.
IFK Värnamo stands on four points after five games played in this year’s Allsvenskan.
