The Minister of National Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Urban Policy, Fatima Zahraa El Mansouri, informed the House of Advisors on Tuesday that the living conditions of 344,000 families have been improved thanks to the “Cities Without Bidonvilles” (VSB) program, since its launch until the end of March 2024.
In her response to a question on “the measures adopted to implement the VSB program”, read on her behalf by the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour, she stressed that the number of beneficiaries of the program represents 74% of the total number of families recorded which amounts to 465,000, and that 41,000 families have benefited from the improvement of their living conditions during the mandate of the current government, adding that the pace of completion of the VSB program will be accelerated, with the processing of the files of 120,000 families over the next five years in all regions of the Kingdom.
The ministry adopted, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, a new approach in the management of this program, launched by HM King Mohammed VI in 2004, she noted, noting that this approach is based on integration of the private sector, the establishment of the necessary financial support and support, as well as the mobilization and sanitation of public land for the benefit of the program, allowing the improvement of the living conditions of more than 20,000 families in the commune of Skhirat-Témara.
After the success of the new approach in the municipality of Skhirat-Témara, it was extended to the rest of the regions concerned, where a series of calls for expressions of interest were launched in Greater Casablanca to provide more than 62,000 units of housing, she said.
