/ world today news/ A Day of Chinese Culture and Technology was held in Sofia, organized by the Confucius Institute in Sofia. The audience at 18 William Gladstone High School enjoyed performances of traditional Chinese musical instruments, Chinese songs, dances and martial arts. The celebration also included a presentation of Chinese traditional crafts such as paper cutting and Chinese knots.
Liu Xiumin, the Chinese director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, and Aksinia Koleva, the Bulgarian director, gave speeches at the opening. The event aims to combine the millennia-old Chinese traditional culture and the country’s modern technological development, giving more Bulgarians the opportunity to immerse themselves in this culture and at the same time experience the rapid changes in modern China. “Through this event, we hope to draw more people’s attention to the development of the Confucius Institute, the Chinese language learning opportunities and the high level of teaching,” they added.
