Profepa removes closure seals from Grupo Salinas golf course

Workers from the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (Profepa) removed the closure seals from the Tangolunda golf course, in Huatulco, a property that was concessioned to the businessman’s Grupo Salinas, and which on February 26, through a decree of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, it was converted into a national park.

The federal government personnel complied with the resolution of the Seventh District of Oaxaca, Miriam Fabiola Núñez Castillo, who at the end of March granted the definitive suspension to Salinas Pliego, to maintain the flora and fauna of the place, however, He specified that the precautionary measure does not prevent the federal authorities from continuing with the administrative procedure derived from the inspection order OC0058RN2024, of last March 4, which is part of the file PFPA/4.2/2C.27.2/0028/2024, as well as inspection order PFPA/4.1./2.C.27.5/0039/2024, dated February 29, 2024.

The judge argued that the measure does not contravene provisions of public order, since the impact on the social interest is much greater if it does not provide adequate maintenance, nor the care of its lakes, as well as maintain the flora and fauna of the place.

Yesterday the judiciary notified that she ordered the directors and inspectors of Profepa to comply with the terms in which the definitive suspension dictated in the present suspension incident was granted.

Last week, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) challenged the definitive suspension through an appeal for review, so the case will be turned over to a Collegiate Court in Civil and Administrative Matters of the Thirteenth Circuit, who will determine whether to confirm, modifies or revokes the first instance ruling.
