This was clear from the presentation of Viaplay Group.

However, as the website satkurier.pl found out, there was a mistake. The Viaplay Polska press office reported that “an unintentional error occurred in the presentation regarding the operational and financial results of Viaplay Group for Q1 2024, in the part covering the sports rights held.”

This means that the platform, which has been operating in our country since August 2021, has not shortened the broadcast rights to the Premier League and Bundesliga. These are in its possession until 2028 (regarding the English league) and 2029 (regarding the German league).

Earlier, the platform (the largest shareholder is Canal+) announced that it intended to withdraw from the Polish market in the summer of 2025. A possible shortening of the rights to PL and the Bundesliga would require tenders.

However, this will probably not happen. Fans will still be able to follow the games in the 2024/25 season via streaming on viaplay.pl. After leaving Poland, Viaplay will probably want to sell the rights to other broadcasters.
