The Specialized Chamber of the TEPJF reduced from four to two years the period in which the governor of Campeche, Layda Sansores, must remain in the National Registry of Persons Sanctioned in Matters of Political Gender Violence, for her comments related to PRI militants.
The resolution can be challenged before the Superior Chamber.
Meanwhile, Judge Felipe Fuentes said that Mexico has a strong, armored, effective and legitimized Electoral Court.
He pointed out that despite having two vacant magistrates, the current 5 have the conviction of giving strength to our democracy, making it richer, safer and promoting peace, security, certainty, trust and credibility among citizens.
He said that the electoral authorities contribute to preventing conflicts and social tensions derived from disputes in the elections, “as the TEPJF has done for more than 30 years.”
He added that state and federal electoral bodies must ensure equal opportunities for all political actors, as well as ensure that the electoral process is equitable and that no group or individual has unfair advantages over others.
He highlighted that electoral justice providers must overcome major challenges, such as the manipulation of information, cybersecurity, misinformation and the influence that seeks to undermine their performance.
