Mexico City. Puebla rescued an agonizing 3-3 draw against Ciudad Juárez and maintains its aspirations to reach the group stage of the Clausura 2024 tournament of the Liga Mx Femenil. The Puebla team reached 17 points and is five behind Pumas, which is on the edge of the classification zone, while the Bravas were left with 22 points and will have to push in the last two days to secure their ticket.
Aisha Solórzano gave Puebla the lead at the Cuauhtémoc stadium just eight minutes in via a penalty, but Ciudad Juárez would react shortly after. The visitors found flaws in the local defense and in a set piece, Janelly Farias (21) connected with a header to tie the game. Las Bravas missed an opportunity to increase the score when Jasmine Casarez took a penalty that was saved by Paola Manrique, who now started in the Puebla goal.
However, the Bravas offense woke up near halftime. Annia Mejia (42) turned the score around with another header against a mistake by the Pueblans in a corner kick, while Casarez (45+2) scored the third goal by beating Manrique in a one-on-one to define with cross shot.
Ciudad Juárez fell into excess security and that was when La Franja turned a game around. Dulce Martínez managed to score at 65 and when the duel seemed over, Liliana Fernández (90+4) appeared to send a shot from the center of the area that sealed the tie.
