The journey into the world of starts from Rome Rino Gaetano. From next February 16th (until April 28th) to Museum of Rome in Trastevere the first major exhibition dedicated to one of the most beloved Italian singer-songwriters will open its doors. Iconic poet with a unique and sharp style, with his rough voice and his apparently light and disengaged lyrics but full of content, he was able to attack society and politics without ever hiding behind labels and masks.
An innovative, passionate author with a strong civil commitment, after his untimely death, his songs were rediscovered and became true anthems among the new generations, used in the theater, as film soundtracks, they became fiction, compilations, street art and festivals. The social denunciation hidden behind the irony of his nursery rhymes is still very current.
The songwriter, Calabrian by birth but Roman by adoption, will be celebrated with the great exhibition Rino Gaetano in Trastevere, the neighborhood he loved and frequented since the days of Folkstudio. The exhibition, promoted by Roma Capitale, Department of Culture, Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, is organized and created by COR Creare Organize Realize, with the organizational support of Zètema Progetto Cultura. With the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and the media partner of Rai which preserves most of the films concerning the artist and with the collaboration of Universal Music Publishing Group. By Alexander Nicosia e Alessandro Gaetano.
An unprecedented exhibition born from a search for materials, many of which are exhibited for the first time, which document his entire artistic journey and enriched by ‘many rarities’ of absolute value, granted for the occasion by Anna GaetanoRino’s sister: documents, photos, artistic memorabilia, the record collection, videos, musical instruments, objects, stage clothes such as the bathrobe worn during the Festivalbar at the Verona Arena and the leather jacket used in Sanremo, posters , the hat collection.
During the event it will be possible to attend live performances by Alessandro Gaetano who will perform some of his uncle’s songs. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog published by Gangemi which contains history, images and also a long list of extraordinary testimonies that help to understand all the facets of a man considered one of the cult storytellers of our history.
