A total of sixty teams of four people took part in the Ajax Pub Quiz. The enthusiastic participants trickled into the building on Rozengracht around 7:30 PM. Upon arrival, the Ajax players received a bucket hat from Bud, after which they were escorted to their place. Sixty tables, all named after an Ajax legend, were set up with ice-cold bottles of Bud. ‘De Jongens Van Je Weet Wel’ created a pleasant atmosphere with live music prior to the quiz. All the ingredients were there to make it a pleasant evening.

Around eight o’clock quizmasters Horace Cohen and Hein van den Bogaert took the floor. The pair provided the quiz under the guidance of the band. The teams tackled forty Ajax-related questions. Where in Amsterdam did Aron Winter’s farewell match take place? What is the official first name of Kinshasa-born Kiki Musampa? And: who was the last Ajax player to wear number 14 in the 2006/2007 season? A selection of the questions that were discussed.

Ultimately, Team Ruud Krol won with 53 points, followed by Team Michael Reiziger and Team Christian Eriksen. The winners were rewarded with signed shirts, a home tap, the prestigious Player of the Match trophy and VIP tickets to a home match next season.

Afterwards, modesty prevailed among Team Ruud Krol. “We are certainly happy with first place, but we mainly won because of a real Ajax expert in our team. We did not really practice in the run-up to the quiz and mainly relied on him,” said the winners. What are they most proud of? “That we got thirteen out of fourteen questions correct in the category ‘Is this Ajax player in the Club of 100?’. The evening is still young, so we will see how we are going to celebrate this success.”

Club love and fun were central on Tuesday evening during the successful first Ajax x Bud Pub Quiz in Boom Chicago. The participants left the theater with a big smile and a wonderful experience. As a souvenir, the Ajax players received an engraved Bud beer opener to take home.
