Last August, the main players of the Czech and Slovak electronics market, HP Tronic and Nay, announced a merger agreement. The aim of the union is, among other things, to convert all stores under its brand in the designated area.
In the case of the Czech HP Tronic, this means that their Datart brand will replace the Czech Electro World stores, and the Slovak Nay, in turn, Datart stores in Slovakia, which will have the same name -now.
“Our intention is to concentrate the Slovakian operations under the Nay management and the Nay brand, and the operations in the Czech Republic under the Datart brand and Datart management. That is what we are moving towards,” confirmed Datart spokesperson Petra Psotková to Novinkám.
However, the Slovak antimonopoly office stands in the way. While the Czech Office for the Protection of Economic Competition has given permission for the two companies to merge, the regulator in Slovakia is taking its time.
“It is an important situation to approve the merger with the Slovak PMÚ (Antimonopoly Office). However, this has not been released yet, which means we are still in the ‘waiting’ stage. Therefore, it is not possible to provide more detailed information at this time,” said Psotková.
Chairman of the Board HP Tronic Daniel Server dinner List of Messages he said he believed the authority’s decision could be made in a few weeks. According to him, the subsequent rebranding will cost tens of millions more.
HP Tronic announced on Monday that it has become the sole owner of Datart after agreeing with Genesis Private Equity Fund III from Genesis Capital Group to buy a quarter stake.
