The air traffic controllers’ strike movement promises to be very strong for Thursday. The profession’s unions are also threatening to continue moving.
The unions had declared the move “strongly followed”.. The number of flight cancellations for Thursday 25 April promises to be huge. Airlines have to cancel 75% of flights at Paris Orly airport and 65% at Paris-Roissy as well as Marseille due to a strike by air traffic controllers in France.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) will also ask them to cancel 60% of flights at Toulouse and Nice, and 50% for other airports.
In addition to the cancellations, we should also expect “big delays”, said the national secretary of the National Union of Air Traffic Controllers (SNCTA, majority), who did not want to be named. “The channel is still open, we are still available with the DGAC and the public authorities” for negotiations, he said. The union has already submitted a strike notice for the Ascension Bridge on May 9, 10 and 11.
The second union of air traffic controllers, Unsa ICNA, which is also calling for a strike on Thursday, has submitted a new notice for the entire month of June.
All the unions are calling for a strike due to the failure at this stage of negotiations on support measures, especially wages, for the review of air traffic control in France.
