Israeli missiles hit Iran

Washington. Israeli missiles hit a site in Iran, ABC News reported late Thursday, citing a US official.

Iran’s Fars news agency reported that explosions had been heard at an airport in the Iranian city of Isfahan, but the cause was unknown. Several flights were diverted over Iranian airspace, CNN reported.

Over the weekend, Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles in retaliation for an alleged Israeli attack on its embassy in Syria.

Most of the drones and missiles were shot down before reaching Israeli territory.

Iran declared Thursday before the UN Security Council that Israel “must be forced to end any new military adventure against our interests,” as the UN secretary general warned that the Middle East was in a “moment of maximum danger”.

Israel had said it would retaliate against Iran’s April 13 missile and drone attack.

In response, Iran fired air defense batteries on Friday (local time) after reports of explosions emerged near the city of Isfahan, state news agency IRNA reported.

It was unclear whether the country was under attack. However, tensions remain high in the Middle East following Iran’s missile and drone attack on Israel. IRNA said defenses fired in several provinces. He did not give details about the cause of the shooting.

The semi-official Fars and Tasnim news agencies reported that the sound of explosions had been heard, without specifying the cause. State television recognized “loud noises” in the area
