The documentary is directed by filmmaker Carlos Andrés García, in charge of special audiovisual projects at the San Marcos Cultural Center.
The cinematographic work “Rescuing history: Tello and the Pariakaka” rescues unpublished images, filmed in 1929, a decade in which the distinguished anthropologist and archaeologist Dr. Julio C. Tello created the dance group “Kon Iraya Pariakaka”, in honor the tutelary Apu of the Huarochirí region.
Produced, written, edited and directed by filmmaker Carlos Andrés García, in charge of special audiovisual projects at the San Marcos Cultural Center, it has several narrative lines that revolve around the recovery of two cans of 16 mm film and how the collective folklore, created and promoted by Tello, managed to win the prestigious “President of the Republic” award, established at that time by Augusto B. Leguía.
The fourth generation of the folklore group participates in the documentary, in addition to academics such as Dr. Ruth Shady, Dr. César Astuhuamán, Dr. Fernando Padilla, Dr. Gabriel Ramón, Mag. César Puerta Villagaray (General Director of the Center Cultural of the UNMSM) and the director of the film himself, Carlos Andrés García.
