MADRID, 14 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leaders of the G7, with the Italian Presidency at the helm, have this Sunday “unanimously” condemned the “unprecedented” attack launched last night by Iran against Israeli territory.

The Islamic Republic fired more than 300 projectiles, including drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, most of them intercepted by Israel, in retaliation for a bombing attributed to Israel against its Consulate in Damascus (Syria).

The president of the European Council, Charles Michel, participating in the videoconference of the G7 leaders, has expressed on social networks “unanimous condemnation of this unprecedented attack” before asking all parties to carry out “a containment exercise.”

«We will continue with all our efforts to work towards de-escalation. Ending the crisis in Gaza as soon as possible, in particular through an immediate ceasefire, will make a difference,” he said after the videoconference meeting this afternoon, which lasted approximately one hour, and which included the participation of the heads of State and Government of Italy, the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Japan and Canada.
