Keven Ramírez died at the age of 27 in the hospital where he arrived with stab wounds after getting involved in a fight to protect a friend in an apartment in the Bronx (NYC).
In the accident, the Dominican left his partner Yomaira Gómez pregnant, and the delivery is scheduled in just two weeks. The two already had a 2-year-old baby and he was the father of a 6-year-old boy with another woman.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, an unidentified friend brought Ramirez to BronxCare Health System with a wound on the chest. “When they killed him, it wasn’t because of him,” Gómez said. “(The injury) was for his friend, the one who took him to the hospital.”
Medical personnel called the NYPD after Ramirez was fatally wounded. The police retraced their steps and eventually determined that it had been him stabbed in an apartment on Wythe Place in Mount Eden, near where he lived.
Gómez said yesterday to Daily News that none of the children knew yet about their father’s tragic death that happened early on Sunday morning. She didn’t find out until 9am that day, long after her boyfriend had died in hospital. She said she had a bad feeling and didn’t feel comfortable with Ramirez going out Saturday night, but he didn’t listen. A few hours later the fatal confrontation took place.
Gómez said Ramírez was an only child he never knew his father and he had been in the Bronx for about five years after arriving in the city Dominican Republic. She said her boyfriend’s mother died COVID 19 in 2020, about three months before they started dating. “I can’t say anything bad about my baby’s father. “He was a good father,” he said.
