If I used to be more optimistic, since ten days my optimism is sinking. And I must admit that neither the candidate for prime minister of “There is such a people” nor his draft cabinet shines. Developments in the last 10 days say that the chances of this cabinet being voted by the 46th National Assembly are decreasing. According to the latest political declarations, I see that “Democratic Bulgaria” is taking a step back, and the BSP – a step forward. However, the fact is that public approval for the ITN project is decreasing. And the main reason is the political behavior of his party, which continues to behave arrogantly with the possible ones The agreements requested by “Democratic Bulgaria” and Mr. Hristo Ivanov are not the main reason for the chances of this cabinet becoming regular.
Actually two things happened. One is the open conflict with the official cabinet, which the ITN leadership entered into – this took away from the aura of ITN as the bearer of change. Because President Radev is a major political figure who not only ignited the spark of political change in Bulgaria, but he is still the main pillar of this movement. So I think that
the behavior of ITN
is immeasurable
and it could cost them dearly.
The leadership of ITN should have understood what parliamentarism is and the way of behavior to get this cabinet voted in, they may not like it, but they obviously need to be more dialogic with the other political formations that pursue the same goal – the abolition of the “Borisov” model, judicial reform and several other policies that unite the so-called change.
The actions of ITN in the last ten days do not speak well.
Now I still could not predict whether the official cabinet, or the ITN project for a cabinet or a third cabinet will rule Bulgaria, because until the end of the week are the key days.
If the ITN cabinet does not pass, I think that the third mandate, to whomever it is given (whether to the BSP or to the DB) should not be ruled out. Because there is a reserve there for forming a government with a very broad coalition consensus around the parties of change and “There is such a people”.
And regardless of the behavior of ITN, I still continue to think that a cabinet in this National Assembly will be formed and it will be a cabinet of change. Because another cabinet cannot be formed, Borisov cannot return. The question is whether this will be the cabinet of Plamen Nikolov, who, by all appearances, does not bear the marks of a definite change, and the candidate for prime minister himself has not spoken very convincingly in recent days, since he became famous.
If it is not voted, there is still a chance to form a government around the caretaker cabinet with broad parliamentary support. I believe that the parties of change would prefer this option to going to new elections.
