PVV leader Geert Wilders plans to press charges against Frans Timmermans. This is what he announced on X. The leader wants to do this following a speech that Timmermans gave at a GroenLinks-PvdA members’ conference in Apeldoorn.
According to Wilders, the speech that Timmermans from the left-wing combination party gave during the congress was threatening. In his speech, Timmermans addressed the leader of the radical right-wing party. “Folks, our task is clear. We will do nothing to prevent Wilders from coming to power in this country.” Timmermans’ speech had been shared with journalists in advance. The text was slightly different. For example, it said ‘do not fail’, instead of ‘nothing omission.’
Timmermans’ text went down the wrong way with Wilders. He saw the speech as a threat. “To leave nothing behind? Nothing? So no violence either? I’m going to file a report,” he wrote on X.

Timmermans’ response
Will Wilders actually press charges? In any case, Timmermans doesn’t take it that seriously. “Wilders always does this when he is criticized. Then he hits out.”
The politician said in a statement that he did not want to incite violence at all. “My means are always parliamentary and nothing else. I reject any other suggestion.”
