Gáspár Orbán has been working on setting up and organizing a new national security body for months – writes VSquare. The board would be the Hungarian equivalent of the American National Security Council, also known from the movies, which is the US president’s number one foreign policy, security and military advisory forum. According to the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, Gáspár Orbán has access to Karmelita due to family ties, and is not employed by them.
Viktor Orbán recently reformed the system for managing national security matters. Since March, Bíró Marcell has had a so-called chief national security adviser, who supervises the areas dealing with intelligence and national defense in one person.
VSquare knows that Gáspár Orbán is working to establish a third department in addition to these two, which would deal with foreign policy and sensitive diplomatic matters. This would monitor international crisis situations 24 hours a day and advise the government on how to respond to them.
According to VSquare, Viktor Orbán would not allow his son to officially receive a high state position, but he did allow him to oversee the planning and creation of national security agencies. This includes interviewing applicants for the organization and deciding who will be admitted there.
VSquare asked the ministries and the Prime Minister’s Office about the status of Gáspár Orbán, they denied that Gáspár Orbán was in their employ. According to them, he only has access to Karmelita because of his family connection.
