American punk star Iggy Pop will be honored with the “Living Legend” award at the Marshall Awards for classic rock and roll, the BBC and the Daily Telegraph have announced. On November 2 in London, the award will be presented to the 62-year-old performer.

Iggy Pop is considered one of the innovators of punk rock and similar styles of music, earning him the nickname “The Godfather of Punk”. He was born on April 21, 1947 in the state of Michigan. He was the vocalist of the Stooges group in the late 60s, early 70s, and since 1977 he has been developing independently. During his career he also worked together with David Bowie.
