An analysis of satellite images, which were distributed on international media, confirmed that the central part of the S-300 defense system was targeted and destroyed in the Israeli attack on the 8th Shikari Air Base in Isfahan, central Iran, Friday.
Farzin Nadimi, a defense and security analyst at the Washington Institute, told the Iran International website, “After analyzing these images, they show the S-300 system of the eighth base and reveal destroy a key part of it, which is the system’s radar battery.”
He said, contradicting recent statements by Iranian officials: “This amount of destruction cannot be caused by a small drone that looks like a child’s toy.”
American officials, whose names have not been released, confirmed that missiles launched by Israeli fighters over Iraqi aircraft hit their intended target.
Pictures of missile debris that fell on Iraqi territory also explained to military analysts how Israeli planes could attack the base in Isfahan from a long distance.
Military analysts, after reviewing these images, said that Israel may have used the “Sbarro” air-launched ballistic missile to respond to Iran’s attack, to show the Iranian regime that it can successfully hit targets within the country from a long distance.
An Israeli official said his country’s forces used long-range missiles that were launched at a great distance from the Iranian border.
